About

The Cape Cod Baseball League is recognized as the best collegiate summer baseball league in North America by college coaches and professional baseball scouts. An amazing 25% of all current MLB players have played at the Cape.

It comes as no surprise that the venerable Cape Cod League is still the top dog.

Completing its 133rd season in 2018, the league, which traces its roots back to 1885, literally invented collegiate summer league baseball. In 1963, the league became officially sanctioned by the NCAA. It remains the premier amateur baseball league in North America.

Last year there were 306 active Cape League Alumni playing in the big leagues and over 1,100 all-time alumni performing at all levels of professional baseball.

While the league used aluminum bats from 1974-84, it became the first collegiate summer league to use wooden bats in 1985. Always popular with major league scouts, the move made it even more popular. With its small footprint and plethora of top prospects, it is no wonder that today the league attracts more scouts than any other. Cape All-Star games attract as many as 70 major league scouts.

The fields have no lights so games may be called on account of darkness and result in a tie.
